The monster rises its weary head It is the anger that we all dread That dreadful fein that dwells within Often heard and often seen The monster has many forms Hiding fear; and inwards storms It can be hidden forever deep; To hold it still; a mindless sleep The monster rises its ugly head You wanted praise; he is here instead Flailing his tail back and fro Ducking high and ducking low He shows his teeth; sharp indeed What he gives you, you don't need His claws tighten around who you are He is close; he is not far His scales hide the pleasure within No one here ; there is no win Its skin is thick; beyond compare To kill this monster; we do not dare He lays within us all inside Stalking there; we cannot hide He changes who we are beneath He causes pain; he causes grief But there is one creature that can calm him down Can tie him up; can make him frown Can stop him in his fury stampede It is something that we all need Along she comes; all nice and calm Forever needed; heals like balm A slight pat on the monsters head He simmers down; with a pillow and bed What is this creature I am asked Than can quell this monster; so very fast Where is she; showing us good and fair Why is she not always there? She has eyes of gold and fairy dust Sharing with us her inward trust Pushing away the monstrous brute While playing symphonies on her flute Hiding beneath her smiling face She has such beauty and such grace Her violin is carefully tuned Plucking songs that do not wound Dancing merrily in her garden waiting for her wings to harden Who is this creature; this precious dove For of course; it is but love Whitedove Copyright 2005 www.whitedovesnest.com |
