Fall Country I love this country in the fall. When hazy skies hang over all And in October's chilling air, I watch for spots of color where The aspens spill their golden tide In surges, down the mountainside. It's then the cricket sings his song Beneath my window all day long And maple trees turn orange and red. The flowers in their summer bed, All fade away and go to sleep And squirrels with athletic leap, Go tree to tree, complete their store Of winter food, then look for more. Until one morning, they decide It's time for them to stay inside The cozy nest they have prepared. The bounty of our field is shared With family and neighbors too And now there's nothing left to do, But just enjoy each passing day, Before the autumn slips away. Thanks Marge. I wish I could join you in Florida until about next April. I am no longer enthused about cold weather. I used to ice skate and ski, so I enjoyed it, but that was a few years back!! Betty Lou Hebert |
