I need your love so very much
That I can almost taste it
I gave it all to you my love
And prayed you would not waste it

Now I lay awake at night
And wonder what went wrong
The sky is bleak and lifeless now
The days have grown too long

There was a time when I'd look at you
Sleeping sweetly before the dawn
And then you'd wake and kiss my lips
I knew then that I belonged

Belonging to you I thought
Was Oh so very right
The load that pressed upon our minds
Somehow seemed so light

Though we're both strong enough
To make it on our own
I didn't even care to try
To walk through life alone

But, you choose another way my love
A path that only you can tread
And now I am alone again
My joy has turned to dread

Now there is no one to belong to
No one to pledge my love to dear
No one to share my songs with
My melodies you do not hear

Soon all the words will leave me
With no one to speak them to
The way is dark and I'm afraid
The light has gone with you.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

A lovely, longing poem.  I know what it is to lose someone.  Love, Joyce

pegasus111:  I hope this is not written from personal experience!  It's beautiful but so sad!

OhPeggers~
How sadly your words move this heart~

Never, ever feel that you've no one to share the words with ... for I will be here to listen~
I promise~

Would that I could just *hug* you ...

Wonderful write.  I'm sure we've all been on both sides of that spectrum - the lonely one and the one who has left the other lonely.  Not a good feeling either way.
