Oh yes, oh yes, we'll smile again. We'll love and work and play again. It's just that now we don't know when. We hear the long, long list of names. The tears will fall for them like rain. We'll smile once more, but don't know when. Our minds are dumb, our spirits numb. No room for anything but pain. How can we ever smile again? The awful, dreadful hate of it. We hate to hate, let love come in, And some day let us smile again. But until then we're doomed to see, All stages of deep misery. We'll live through this and once more we Will smile again. I already smiled yesterday, at the enormous crowd that turned out to donate to the Red Cross, and to the people who waved back to me as I stood next to my mailbox draped with flag and red, white, blue bows. And I am not feeling oppressed as I did Tuesday, because I can see that the terrorists have already lost this war. Maybe they don't see it coming yet, but their reign of terror is about to come to an end. |

Dear Friends thank you for your words. Midnitesun I like your optimism its just that I have lived through so many wars already and I know the cost. I hope they can be defeated and exterminated without war. Joyce |

We have to believe that! We are Americans and we have a will and a way. The blood of the pioneers runs through us. We will make our forefather's proud. |

Joyce: Thanks for this poem that offers a ray of hope for a happier time in the future. I know you're right, but I'm afraid we have much to bear yet, before that happens. I did notice today while in town, there is a new attitude in people. They seemed more aware of those around them and were extending themselves in new ways. Betty Lou Hebert |

Have to love the hope in this Joyce, and there is a definite need to hold on to it. Thank you. Bonnie |

Thanks for the optimism. I, too, hope they can be defeated and exterminated without war, but, it is high time America strikes back. Melton |
