Zeb's rooster, Mr. Brewster Zeb had three fine roosters to do what we all know roosters do. But how to know which pulls his weight is something Zeb had to debate. So, he tied a bell to each rooster’s neck. It made a little noise, but what the heck. Zeb would sit on his porch and listen for their reporting, but there seems to be more ringing, than a courting. Each roosters bell had it’s own tone but he never heard the one that Mr. Brewster owned. Zeb's rooster, Mr. Brewster was as sly as he can be. His bell was caught on his beak, but he could still see. Mr. Brewster would sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on by. When Zeb noticed this, he smiled and breathed a well satisfied sigh. Zeb was so proud of Mr. Brewster that he entered him in the county fair. Mr. Brewster was an overnight sensation and there was none to compare. The judges awarded him the No Bell Piece Prize, and he soon became known as the......... Pulletsurprise. |

Melton! That was too dang funny. What a fun write. Thanks for putting a smile on my face...a good way to start the weekend. Sorta reminds me of Bessie the heffer. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |
