( I'vebeen depriving myself of sleep for two weeks to watch these wonderful athletes from all over the world.Kudos to all of them.) Olympic Games I watch with fascination as they anounce the names of those who've won the medals at each part of the games. The National Anthems ring out; they can't hold back their tears at triumphant affirmation of practice packed long years. My own favorites, the gymnasts in steeled determination have used bodies as swift missiles, proudly for their nation. Each and everyone's amazing; a shame they can't all win. I wonder how they concentrate through crowd's approving din. The swimmers, divers, racers, keep me watching, mesmerised. As many records fall and break, I'm happily surprised. No competitor's a loser. United with the world, we applaud, it makes no difference which flag will be unfurled. The clock is striking midnight, I'll stay for rising sun if there's one more game to finish or one more race to run. If rulers could learn lessons from these finest of the best, they'd ban war forever, holding games to disturb our rest. By: Joyce 8/28/04 |

No competitor's a loser. United with the world, we applaud, it makes no difference which flag will be unfurled. You are so right about the last stanza as well, a dream would be in world unrest they have games to settle it, instead of war, and loss of lives would it not. Not one of those to me either was a loser, just imagine the years of training it took to get even that far. Nicely dedicated Joyce. |

Joyce~ Oh yes ... these have been some outstanding Games~ You have done them proud with this~ I have such admiration for any and all who devoted years of determination and training to get where they are today~ *Side note* Delaney loved watching the gymnastic girls perform. She says she wants to be a "bimnastic"~ *and again, we *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*When the heart grieves over what it has lost, |

If rulers could learn lessons from these finest of the best, they'd ban war forever, holding games to disturb our rest. I didn't watch too much of the games. But, for the ones that I did, I feel the same as you about their excellent performance. I enjoyed your tribute. Your wish would indeed be nice. Thanks, Melton |
