A Shadow The path along the cliff is dim. The drop below is steep and grim. Great jagged rocks, a-gleam with spray, Where wild waves crash and fall away. I wonder why I'm drawn here? Perhaps because the view is clear And I can glimpse infinity, Where the horizon meets the sea. Perhaps it is the solitude That often seems to match my mood. The vast expanse of sea and sky. The gulls that hover and their cry And as I turn away to go, A strange elation lets me know, That I am part of all I see. A shadow on eternity! Marge: Thanks for your nice remarks. I always think of infinity when I see that line at the horizon, where sea and sky meet. Betty Lou Hebert |
