Passing Through

I'm wondering what happens to
The people who are passing through
Our lives and each one leaves a mark.
A smile a deed, or a remark.
Some stay awhile and become friends,
Until some unforeseen act ends
What we have shared and they are gone.
The path in life, they travel on,
Diverges from our own and they
Will keep in touch, or else they may
Just disappear into the past.
I guess some things aren't meant to last.

A few we miss a lot and yet,
Others, quickly, we forget.
What purpose lies beyond the flow
Of losing people that we know,
So briefly and so casually?
There must be reasons we can't see
And while we are aware how they
Affected our lives, on their way,
What impact did we have on theirs
And someplace, is there one who cares
We walked together for a mile
And made the contact seem worthwhile?

We are a small part or a large part of everyone who touches our lives in any way.
Nice thoughts; great poem.

This is so true and there seems to be no rhyme nor reason and some of the friends I have met in this medium I may never see but feel as close to as though I have always known them.  Love,  Joyce

Dear Barb:

Thanks for your comments.  I know there must be reasons people come and go in life, just don't know why. I hope you are one who stays!

Dear Betty Lou,

What a beautifully written poem!

Who knows why some people come into our lives and remain, while others enter but for a moment in time. Sometimes I feel as if an angel has visited me, and left just as suddenly as they appeared. Those are the moments that have left an impact on my life. I feel especially blessed with all my friends, including the face-less ones I have met on the internet. What a blessing and joy to be able to share.

Love,
Patricia

Dear Betty Lou

We all have an impact on each others lives.  Some good and some not so good.  Whether we cross paths for one day, one year or a life time, it is what we have learnt from that experience which will have an impact not only on our own lives but the lives of other people that we meet.

A beautiful poem.  You have certainly made a difference in my life for the better, through your poetry and our friendship. I thank you for that.  God Bless you always.

I would also like to say that there are a few other people here in PiP that have touched me through their poetry.  Thanks everyone.

Love Isobel ox
