The Rides The Thing

Susy knows that we are going,
Watching as I lock the door.
It's apparent by her actions
She can't wait a minute more.

Never mind our destination,
It's the ride that is the thing.
She wants car window open
Be it winter, fall or spring.

Eagerly she sticks her head out,
Barks at other dogs and bikes;
Doesn't ask, "When do we get there?"
It's the riding that she likes.

When I stop to run an errand
And I leave her in the car,
She doesn't worry, certain that I
Won't be gone too long, nor far.

I leave all the windows open,
For I know no thief would dare
To attempt to steal our auto
With big Susy sitting there.

It is possible you'd chuckle
If our little car you saw.
My grandson changed the lettering.
Now this GrandAm reads GrandMa.

Please give us some space aplenty
When we're heaving into sight.
This grandma and her aging dog
Are stepping out tonight.

With the windows all wide open
You might hear us as we sing,
"We don't care where we are going
It's the riding that's the thing."

Joyce~
This is just the cutest thing I've read today~
And LOVE the 'GrandAM' to 'GrandMa'~

My little Dallas just has to hear the sound of my car keys and she's dancing to go~

Dear Joyce:  I can just picture you and Susie driving around enjoying the sights!
Our 112 lb. chocolate Lab, nearly tears the door off to get out and go! I guess most dogs enjoy the ride! Cute poem!

Thanks everyone.  Susy didn't get her ride today.  We've been stuck here, trying to get back on the network.  Love, Joyce
