Hello again, it's me
I'm sure you're there somewhere
Just not sure exactly where
But if you could come sit here..

Just for a moment..it'd be nice.
See.. there's something I want to say
And I'm hoping that you won't
Take it the wrong way

It was years ago we swore
To love and stand by each other
Forever, and I know you've been here
Beside me, and your mother

I've felt your strength
Through all those bad times
And I've cried endless tears
Feeling your love help dry my eyes

I've felt your gentle laughter
When I've messed up a little bit
Never angry or disapproving
Even when I've been a twit

But.. I think now it's time
I've found another man
One who loves me almost the same
And who vows to always by me stand

So, yes, I think it's time
To finally let you go
I think I'm healing finally
I just wanted you to know

I'll always come to visit
I know.. I should have been your wife
But it wasn't my choice
For you to depart from this life

It's okay, really it is
I'm ready this time for goodbye
He won't take your place
Those memories are yours and mine

And these tears, don't worry
They're not really that sad
I'm just remembering all those
Happy times that we had

Well, it's time to get back
To living this fated life

Dear Broken_Winged_Angel,

Sometimes it takes quite awhile before we are able to let go of our loved one who has passed. But the love we have for them never goes away. They will always occupy a part of our heart. Your poem touched me very deeply. Thank you for sharing!

such sweet memories and love and pain. A lovely poem of moving on and still holding the precious love you have for your dearly departed one.
