The Hatch In the Patch

One day in a pumpkin pie patch
I spotted an egg ready to hatch.
Out popped a chick
That was downy and yellow,
A delicate, soft, fuzzy small fellow.
He put on an apron,
And started to cook.
I was shocked and surprised
But continued to look
As he poured the ingredients into a shell
And the pie as it baked emitted a smell
Of well blended spices
And golden flaked crust.
So if you’re in town,
Stop by and you must
Gobble a slice with a dollop of cream
From the chicken who baked a pie
In my dream.
