Precious Memories I cannot bear to think that when I die, The memories that I carry will be gone. Those dear ones who have lived and loved and died, And only in my memory live on. No one to recall when Mom and Daddy Were here and were such good and kindly folks. Dear Mother with her sweet and loving ways And Daddy with his simple silly jokes. There were my four beloved, older brothers. Only I remember when they all were young. Those who knew them as a dad or uncle Don't know the daring boys from whom they sprung. My Husband! The exciting plans we made Together, no one knows about but I. They were such an important part of us. My darling, where will they go when I die? And oh, the most oppressive thought of all! While I'm alive you are too, precious Son. When I go I will take away with me The joy, the love, the pride. All gone, all gone. By: Joyce 5/28/04 |

Dear Joyce: I was having thoughts along these lines just yesterday. I've decided to write down all the pertinent information about our family history and use poetry I've written over the years to illustrate the events and also my feelings. Maybe you could do something similar? Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

Thanks Betty. I am trying to do something like that also. Just hope I'm up to the task of preserving those wonderful memories. Love, Joyce |

You'll preserve many memories with the time that you took to write the precious poems that you have written. Many of these poems tell stories that some family member will cherish down the road and even others, unknown to you now, will read. You've done a great job of sharing your life and love. Love, Barb |

Dear Joyce I agree with Betty Lou and Barb. Story telling comes in all forms. In ancient times they passed the stories down from one generation to another, either verbally or to the carvings on cave walls. Memories are what keeps us 'alive' even after we have passed over. So keep on versing Joyce. Love Isobel ox |

Dear Joyce, I too have often wondered what would happen if I was no longer around. As for the memories, because they are so much a part of us, perhaps they are ingrained into our heart and soul forever. I'd like to believe that. Thank you for sharing! Love, Patricia 'When you find a dream within your heart, don't ever let it go. |

This is beautiful Joyce...I have discovered we all have very select memories. My sister and I a mere 15 months apart have totally different memories of our life and our parents. I truly believe the essence of those departed does linger and when we pass on, we take our memories and share once again with those gone before...so they are never lost to those who need to have them. |
