In the News A grandma lost her life today Through no fault of her own. Two young men racing down the street Who should have better known, Ran head on into her small car And left her lying dead. Their foolish, willful, wrong actions To this conclusion led. They'll have a long, long time to think About their thrilling fun And the dread resulting chaos It brings to more than one. This innocent and sweet lady Leaves loved ones now bereaved. Her children, friends and grandchildren, So many now are grieved. It only takes a moment to Bring trouble and despair; A sweet soul has gone to Heaven Because someone took a dare. Joyce 4/17/04 |

Joyce, This is so sad and I felt it more as we just celebrated my Grandma's 80th birthday tonight, by throwing her a surprise birthday. I feel for all those families that won't have the chance to experience this pleasure with their Grandma due to "dares". Dawn |

Dear Joyce, How tragic and sad the loss of a loved one due to the actions of joyriders! I'm sure your poem will touch the hearts of many, just as it touched mine. Love, Patricia |

Dear Joyce This is very sad. I know how you 'feel'. We had a similar instance here in Australia recently. This elderly lady (77 years old) took money out of an ATM and while she was walking down the road she was deliberately knocked down to the ground and her handbag was stolen. She suffered severe head injuries and a few days later she died. Her 88 year old husband was beside himself. They had been married for 56 years. Of course she left behind children and grandchildren too. How ones deeds change the life/lives of others. Love Isobel ox |
