Oh treacherous villain has thou no heart, that thou may in thine own ways poison thee? If thou must, bait the dagger not Cupid's dart, for unknown things come in love's own memory. And what may come to this heart of mine, that it beats for such a waning desire, that upon love's very death it shall resign, to such mysery as Hell's eternal fire! What truth does thy heart speak in love, that it has know way of knowing what it is; just as thy own hand know's not its glove, nor does thy thirsting lips know love's kiss! Instead thy heart should resign to its own destiny, that it may not in its own course control, just as an unmassed ship is at the mercy of the sea, so is thy heart at the mercy of thy soul! |
