Earth's Echoes The wildlife voices that I hear. All echo softly in my ear. A gift to us from Mother Earth Who loves each creature for its worth. I listen for them every day And pray that they won't fade away. If I should never hear an owl, A coyote's bark, a wild wolf howl, Or bugle of an elk in fall, The music of the geese that call As they pass over on their way To where they winter, then I'd say My life has lost a vital part Of what now lives within my heart! Now, do you think I knew that a moose can bugle? To me, he would be playing an instrument in a marching band. This is exactly why I write very little about nature. Neat and wonderful poem as always. Love, Barb |

Wonderfully written piece. Enjoyed. Chris For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul. |

Dear Betty Lou I have watched the Discovery Channel. Yes, the Elk does sound out a 'Bugle' call. As always you have touched my heart. Let's all pray that we are not left with just the 'Echoes'. Wonderful poem. Love Isobel ox |

I love your poem but I know you will find nature and be writing about it until the very end. No one does it better. Love, Joyce |

Isobel: Thanks for your nice comments. We hear elk "bugling" in the hills above us every fall. That's what it has always sounded like to me, although not quite as musical. Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |
