Daddy's Lesson I wondered what had happened When I saw my daddy running. Around him was a swarm of bees And they were mad and gunning. He headed for the horsetank Where those insects kept him down. I was afraid those angry bees Would cause my dad to drown. At last they gathered in a cloud And rode the wind away. My daddy learned a lesson on That long ago sad day. He arose out of the water Very much the worse for wear. Those angry bees had stung him On wherever he was bare. My daddy's face was swollen Beyond my recognition. He resembled less my daddy than A grotesque apparition. From then on, when his sweet tooth ached, He paid for treats with money. Not once more did he try to steal A wild bee's precious honey. Dear Joyce: This is a wonderful recollection of an event in your life. I loved it. It also reminded me of one time when I was about 9, I climbed on the roof of my dad's shed so I could watch him working in the bees and they swarmed. He yelled at me to stay perfectly still and I did. They landed all over me and crawled around and I will never forget the warmth that spread over me. I had no idea their bodies would generate so much heat. They didn't even sting me once! Was I lucky or what? Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

Joyce~ This one had me writhing with the pain your father must have gone through~ LOL @ the moral of your story~ Too true~ Once I opened the door to my home and a swarm of bees (apparently following the queen) rushed in ... well, needless to say they didn't seem to want to get out anytime soon .... hate to say it, but .... when I couldn't get them out ... I simply turned my air conditioner down on 58 degrees and ... well, don't think I need to paint a picture of what transpired~ I spent the next two days ... sweeping bees~ Ironic, now a meadow away is a bee farm and the only thing I get from there is the most delicious honey ever bottled~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*When the heart grieves over what it has lost, |

I am sure glad your dad survived that experience. As you know, some people cannot even receive one bee sting as it could be fatal for them. Wonderful poem. Isobel. |

(giggles) Hehehe, I don't like to bother the bees as though honey is ever so tempting (I'm a lil' Winnie the Pooh, hehehe! ) they make the honey so I believe it's only fair they preserve it with love, yay! (kiss on cheek) Yay, what a wonderful lesson learned, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joyce, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "You'll find something that's enough to keep you |
