have re- written this one as it needed a little work. hugs june x Meet me, you said, As usual at eight I willalways be there, by the little church gate That night though was different afterwhat happenedto us So why was I so nervous?, making an unusual fuss ? Ifelt so very alone, as I combed out my hair Dabbing on the perfume, You loved me to wear In my heart I was aware, I was increasing the pain You could never be there, This would be all in vain All my reason had fled I had nothing left to lose So I reached for mycoat, Stepped on into my shoes I walked through the dusk, to meet you at eight I was lost in my sorrow But I couldn’t be late I saw and heard nothing, but your voice and your smile Only hope kept me going, as I travelled that mile At the little church gate, I waited , desperate for you Cold and so very lonely, Rain soaking me through As I waited that night, I could sense this was wrong I was fooling, only myself, Pretending to be strong So finally I accepted, my wounded heart had lied You couldn’t possibly be there, For last night you had died That’s when It happened, My illusions were shattered I was wretched with grief I’d lost all that had mattered As my weeping subsided, the church bells spoke eight I heard the familiar creak, Of our little church gate The sob that escaped me, Was caught up in your kiss Tender lips warmed mine, In a fantasy of bliss The heat from your caress, Will ever-more remain The last kiss of love, To soothe awaymy pain |
