Truly Blessed Blessed am I with eyes to see With ears to hear sweet harmony With feet to tread a pathway traced Where blue forget-me-nots are laced With voice to sing a lullaby And hands a satin bow to tie With arms to hold a crying child With smell to breath in earthy wild But if I were to have my choice Of ear or eye or foot or voice I think that I would choose to see The nature strewn in front of me Perhaps, though, I would choose to hear A sonnet floating to my ear Or voice to speak the thoughts that brew Within imagination’s stew Perhaps it best to have the feet To walk the pathway where we meet Or better yet the hands to write The thoughts that creep into the night If I were made to make a choice Of hands or eyes or ears or voice I think to have them all is best And for this gift I’m truly blessed Elizabeth Santos |

Liz: A lovely poem, as usual! We are all so blessed to have our different senses. It is hard to imagine living without any one of them. Betty Lou Hebert |

Very well and beautifull expressed, Elizabeth! Yes, that would be hard to make a choice, wouldn't it? |

Delightful, Liz...and isn't your grateful heart most pleasing to God for all your senses? Love, Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. [This message has been edited by ellie LeJeune (edited 08-14-2001).] |

This is a lovely poem and I agree it is nice to have them all, but I understand if one is lost, the others try to compensate. So great are our blessings. Joyce |
