Roses in the Snow

The snow that on our garden lies,
Came to us as a surprise.
There was no hint, at dark last night,
The morning would come wrapped in white
And on the trellis, I can see,
Roses, hanging droopily.
Each blossom still is blooming though,
In shades of pink that bravely show,
They are not ready yet to go!
I think I'll gather some to dry
And when they're ready, by and by,
I will enjoy them even more,
With winter crouching at my door!

I KNEW from the title I'd love it ... and I was right !
The roses here are bathed in sunshine~
Maybe you could knit some little snugglies for yours~

Dear Marge:  I would spend the rest of my life making "snugglies" for my roses if I could save them, but Jack Frost is also an accomplice of the snow!  I'm outnumbered!  Thanks!

Love you

Joyce:  It's always sad to see the flowers go!  They were blooming a week ago, but they are all gone now.

Noah:  You're right about how beautiful the flowers appear, with a dusting of snow. You know it is the end of the blooming season and winter is a long, whiteness!  I guess that's why spring is such a joyous time! All the color returns!

Hello Betty Lou

I can only imagine through your words how beautiful this sight must be.  At the moment we are having some beautiful warm late Spring days here in Melbourne.  I have two beautiful pink climbing David Austin roses near my back door called "Pierre de Ronsard" and they are just coming into bloom.  I lost count of the amount of buds and can't wait until it is out in full bloom.

Take care.........Sue

Sue:  Lucky you!  I'm sure your roses are gorgeous!  Mine are now a thing of the past.
But, they'll be back next year and I'll enjoy them once again.  Thanks for commetning.

Oh how that blanket of white makes everything shiver. Your rose buds will smell lovely on a cold winters eve and stir memories of a warm summer night.

Oh how much I loved this. Last year I had pansies covered with snow and found it hard to believe they could exist in such frigid weather.

Your writings always bring such wonderful joy and memories to me. Thank you.
