The Moon Knows Secrets The moon knows secrets old as time. I almost hear the distant chime Of temple bells, as she awakes And her nightly journey takes. She sees whatever darkness hides. Marks the turning of the tides. Watches hunters and their prey. Smiles on those who get away! Lights a path for lovers and Beautifies the sea and land, With her magic, lunar light, Watching over us all night. The moon seems cloaked in mystery. She is more intimate to me Than sun or stars, because we see Clearly, her trajectory. Dark lines showing on her face, Each and every month, we trace Patterns as she wax and wanes, New till quarter, as she gains Strength and luminosity, Then shining in full majesty! A beautiful poem, I so love the idea of the moon knowing all the dirty little secrets of the night. I wonder why the moon appeals so to poets....perhaps the connection between the moon and madness???? I mean we must all be just a little mad to write this stuff that the world has no time for anymore eh? Maddy |

Maddy: Thanks for commenting. I suppose the moon is mysterious to a lot of people. It's such a contrast to the night. So brilliant at this time of year too. Whatever it is, it does fascinate us. Fortunately, there are still of us, like you and I, who read and write poetry and enjoy it! Betty Lou Hebert |

I have to echo Marge's comments. I love the moon immensely. She has hung there in all her glory and mystery for eternity. Your whole poem is fantastic, but I love this line ... As I too am always cheering for those who get away. Watches hunters and their prey. Smiles on those who get away! I was at the beach not too long ago and the full moon rose over the atlantic like a giant pale orange. too lovely to do anything except bask in its beauty. as is this poem... the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

pegasus111: I envy you watching the full moon at the beach. I love the ocean and often wonder how I ended up so far inland. Haven't made it out to the coast for 2 years now. Life! Betty Lou Hebert |

(smiles) God Bless You, sweet friend, the moon has so many secrets to share and there are many we have yet to see as every second reveals less or more light! (big hugggssssss) This is gleaming with beauty, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Betty, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you!
