Tramp Poet's "no good reason" brought this poem of mine to mind, so I figured I'd post it

A LOVE THAT CUT DEEPER

I once knew a love that cut deeper
Than any words can say
And held in her arms I got so swept away
To a place where nothing was blue
The Heaven I knew
She was my hope and my sanctuary
The music to my beast
The shoreline to my sea
The lone rose in the garden
Where my dreams all begin
She danced me around and I
Opened my soul and let her in

But I awoke one morning
To find I was alone
And I cried till my eyes were as dry as a bone
In this place where everything is blue
Gone the Heaven I knew
I had dreamed grand dreams of she and I
But like the smoke on the wind
Away they did fly
Where was God's famous mercy
When he left me without you
At the edges of sanity I cling
What else can I do

I had a love that was true
Now I make love to this bottle of gin
But only the touch of your lips will ease
The pain I am in
And oh to dance once again
To taste your sweet breath as
Around and around we spin
Nothing will warm me as well as
To feel again
The heat of your skin on my skin
And the sad slow notes of a violin
Echoes the agony within

I am sorry about your love but it is sure she was not the one for you. Not worth the wasting of your own future when the real one comes along. Joyce

Actually this poem is entirely fictional....my love is with me and has been for almost 6 years (well with the odd short hiatus when I was simply a right witch and she went back to her mum's)
