The Ocean Calls Me Again It’s summer and I can feel the warmth of the ocean calling me again. My favorite thing in the whole world to do is go to the beach. Walking through the sand, feeling the warmth of summer between my toes, I feel a song from the 60’s surge in my soul, but with the first glimpse of the ocean, the whole world stops. The roar of the sea, and the smell of salty air sends the blood coursing a little faster through my veins. I crave the feel of a salty breeze in my face, the rush of water between my toes. Searching close to the waters edge for seashells, I look for some rare gem to add to my collection. The sand seems perfectly calm as if to say it’s had a nightly affair with the silvery moon, and now it’s time to rest. I know, this is God’s doings. BloomingRose: I was right there with you! I love the ocean and the shore and my favorite place is around Newport, Oregon. I try to go at least once during the summer, but my husband has been ill amd we couldn't go last year, or this one. Maybe next year! Your poem re-awakened all my longings! Betty Lou Hebert |
