Babies, Don't You Know

Beautiful babies, don't you know
Every minute since you're conceived
Your Mamma, and Papa start that
Babies' fever phobia and teacher anxiety.

Every minute, everyday
Mamma and Papa try to learn
Various cries of your magical spell,
Yearning for more care and tender love.

Watching you every step,
From swallowing to climbing blocks.
Even when you're sleeping,
Fear of sudden death drives them awake.

Even when you become a teenager,
Even when you become an adult,
Even when you are married,
In Mamma's and Papa's eyes
You're always their babies.
You're always their babies.

Even when you hurt their hearts,
Even when you don't care,
Even when you're falling down,
They are the one that will catch you.
They are the one that will catch you.

For all parents on the earth,
Are made of compassion,
Which in return is inherted
To you when it's your turn for parenthood.

And we easily forget
Things that have been given us.
But by the time we reach our age,
We will know to give thanks for-

Gift of parents and birth.

Eliza, I wish I had seen this yesterday. Our youngest son, 22 spent the day with us and I called him, my baby. He just doesn't understand why I still call him that. I could have shown him your wonderful poem.

Someday, he'll understand.
