Invisible Tears Waiting so long ...to return home, When I finally did ...I walked to this park Of memories of who ... have fought with me Against the giant monster ...of war- the heat of guns and bombs Flying and exploding to our faces. Thousand had told me ...that the war was over. But deep in my heart ... my coldness stayed. I still heard voices ... playing back to me The scream and pain I saw ... were too much to bear. I couldn't sleep at night, ...for sorrow filled within. I cried everyday without anyone knew ... my invisible tears. The tears that I had ... couldn't clean thousand blood I slayed. The thousand scars I had, ...couldn't heal by time. And a thousand years went by, Who would remember each soldier Who once had fought so hard With their life forever changed. And a thousand years went by, And soon all would forget, What war brought us- Endless unspoken sorrows. (c)May 2, 2003 Eliza Simmons Side note: Please excuse my childish attempt to write a war poem. In reality I don't know much about war. None of my immediately family members were soldiers. But I hope you won't mind reading this poem. Eliza Simmons ~Every girl has a dream within. Good job. A sensitive soul like yours does not have to have personally suffered. Love, Joyce |

Eliza: Never apologize for writing about something you have not personally experienced. That is what sensitivity and imagination are all about! Very touching poem. Betty Lou Hebert |
