As I close my eyes, I feel people stare, Listening to the sounds of the funfair, Coming to an end. Vaguely hearing the door slam, This time last year, I was doing a summer jam. For now I hear sirens, So piercing and loud, Making my way to hospital, Who dialed 999? I remember seeing someone in trouble, Struggling to break free, Someone with a tight grip, Unwilling to let her be free. Decided to play hero of the hour, To free a damsel in distress, Noble and bright, Or so I thought, Who would have known, It would suddenly stop. The sharp piercing pain through my body, The unbelievable pain, Who would have bargained for a knife ready for slaying? I hit the deck quicker than jumping jack flash, Clutching and withering from my pain, Hearing screams from all around, It was then I knew, There was blood on the ground. I was saved by the medics, Who fought long and hard, Pumping in the blood I lost, Ever thankful to donors of the world. The young girl gained her freedom, Away from her abusive life, How the tables turned from that night, For us to become man and wife. -* Just wanted to say a little, well a HUGE thank you to Lizzie Esp, who we haven't heard from a while on this particular site, but she has been a truly amazing influence on me, pushing me to try harder and offering her advice, without her I think I would have given up entirely. She managed to interpet this poem rather quickly and as always, her interpretations continue to blow me away, so thank you again Liz, dedicate this one to you *- |

This is like an incident in Seattle a year or so ago. Except the daring hero lost his life saving a girl from ruffians. Nice poem. Joyce |

This one deserves a boost....look out for the layers of meaning in all these words... As for the dedication to me, I am highly undeserving and very touched. I meant to reply ages ago but at least this way, it gets another run at the top ![]() Lots of love, Liz xxxxx "Gorge the honey from life, and live through the stomach aches knowing they will pass..." ~Liz Pinard 2003~ |
