"To My Mother" By janna Shaffer age 14 Although I cant recall the moment, Blamed on my young age, From What My mother told me, The Day of my birth I looked into her eyes, and for the first time, I smiled as her eyes filled with tears. My first day of school, I learned to tie my shoe, Running home to tell mommy, I fell, and skinned my knee, walking in the door, tears in my eyes, Mom smiled and bandaged my leg. When I was 12 years old, I had a crush on this boy. I wrote him a love poem, and he ripped it up, also ripping up my heart with it. Laying on my bed crying, not wanting to move, My mom walks in, I tell her my problems, and she smiles and says: "Your beautiful no matter what" Well I just got my license, new car too. I just got captain of the cheer squad, and a wonderful boyfriend. I fought with him tonight, and on the way home, I hit a deer, I thought my life was ruined, Momma helped me through this, and when I thanked her, she smiled. Now I’m old and wiser, and married, sitting in my hospital bed, with mom by my side along with my newborn child, it looks me in the eyes and smiles, I turn to my mother, we both smile, and tears fill up in both our eyes. A nice tribute to your mother and welcome. You have some grammatical errors I woul like to help you fix, if you wouldn't think it was presumptuous. We do help each other. It would have to be fixed before it could get into the book. Love, Joyce [This message has been edited by Joyce Johnson (04-17-2003 04:46 PM).] |

Jaysh: You are fortunate to have had such a fine mother. What a good example she has set for you with your own child. Good luck! Betty Lou Hebert |

Lovely tribute, a keeper for you I am sure so take advantage of Joyce's offer, she's a whiz. I voted because of the sentiment. Congratulations also if having a baby is true, although I note on the title you are 14. Nice write regardless. [This message has been edited by SPIRIT (04-17-2003 09:42 PM).] |
