I'd Like to Live Forever I'd like to live forever, if I could. There is so much to see in field and wood. The seasons flow and they become lost years. Each sprinkled with its share of smiles and tears, And every spring, I think I've never seen Such perfect flowers or the shades of green That show on leafing trees, on shrubs and grass. Each month brings something new and then they pass. In autumn then, I smell the hint of smoke. See flying geese and with the other folk Who live in country, gather up the fruit That grows on many trees.I hear the hoot Of great horned owls, who often nest nearby. Sometimes, on moonlit nights, I see one fly On large and silent wings. The coyotes call And suddenly, we say good-bye to fall The winter brings its special, white delights. New fallen snow, icicles and the lights Of blazing stars, that grace the canopy, That Heaven stretches, far as you can see. A thousand other sights drift through my mind. Though I am growing older, I still find That I can't get enough of nature's good. Yes, I would live forever, if I could! Dear Marge: Well, I guess some of my poems will live on through my family and get passed around. That's a good thought, but I still wish i could live forever, as long as I didn't get decrepit! Ron sends his love and a big "HI" back to you. Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |
