The Intruders I walked into his arms, into the path Of a love that had come before. I was unaware as I kissed his lips Of she whom he'd always adore. I couldn't compete with the sweet recall Of perfect love and girl so fair. To the unfolding of a first true love, New love can't expect to compare. A rush of tears as he told the sad tale, Of how his unguarded heart bled; When he stood by the side of his betrothed And heard the sad words, "She is dead." We knew very well as we pledged our troth, We were not standing there alone. We could see the shadow of his lost girl And boy who was once my own. He knew of the loss of my first sweet love, To death's unyielding, frozen blast. Our vows must allow for the memories Forever a part of our past. By: Joyce 03/17/03 |

Thank you Trillium and Flower. I am sure you can write some lines of poetry since you love it so much Flower. I wrote my first poems as a great grandmother. Honest. Love, Joyce |
