The Sun's not up But I creep out of bed Take a quick shower And wet my head Dressed in a hurry Loose, cool clothes It may be hot And the bugs in droves Race to the garden For a can of worms Grab my pole Down the road I turn Down to the creek The sky starts to light Put the worm on the hook My line is in flight Here comes the sun The sy's getting pink I'll soon have some fish in my kitchen sink I sit back and sigh What a peaceful time Fishing a dawn Watch the cork on my line As it bobs up and down To an unseen breeze Wait for the bite Just the dawn and me |

I used to fish a lot and dawn was a favorite time. Also late evening. Didn't catch nearly as many fish as I wanted to though! Betty Lou Hebert |

Amazing Lisa, you did a great job in describing me (LOL) I think at dawn the earth is born again each day. Thanks for this lovely poem. Titia A rose is a rose is a rose...I guess... |

Lisa, You have captured the perfect day off. I hardly ever fish with a rod and reel (commercial fishing was a large part of my past), but many do. You make it sound very restful. Melton |
