War Evermore As a small child I lived in peace Of knowing that war was no more. My future had been well insured By the war that would end all war. Mine is the last generation That grew up without fear of war. For since that time it seems to me We have been warring more and more. My brothers went into battles To defeat Hitler and his crew And then Korea and Viet Nam For reasons that few of us knew. There was the one called Desert Sand Now we have to finish that war. There's always one more war to fight And after that there'll be more. Man surely has not traveled far From the time condemmed as savage. We use our advanced minds to plan, Lethal ways the earth to ravage. Joyce 2/12/03 [This message has been edited by Joyce Johnson (02-13-2003 02:25 AM).] |

Excellent write! You are so correct in saying that it seems there has been war going on continually. When will we ever learn? Too late I suppose. Chris "Hope" is the thing with feathers- |

Joyce, I can't envision a world without war. I guess as long as human beings are a "renewable resource" and the things we fight over are not, i.e. oil, land, money, religion, we will always have war in one form or another. Although, it would be nice to envision a world without it. Nonetheless, your words ring true. coyote "The greatest of all faults is to be conscious of none." |

it would seem that we are doomed to repeat our mistakes. Another example of imperfect beings in an imperfect world. there has to be something better. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

One of my teachers once told me that life teaches us the same lesson again and again until we learn it, and then life presents us with a new lesson. What a wondeful poem about the world not learning its lesson and being taught again. I hope we learn it this time. "Get busy living, or get busy dying. Thats damn right!" ~Shawshank Redemption |

Joyce, this piece hit the nail on the head. I found it sad, true, and well written. |
