A BEAUTIFUL DAY

What a beautiful day,
Every day - since you,
It has been so long
Since I have felt,
As you have made me feel.
I had forgotten the joy
Of uninhibited freedom,
For a certainty
The memories were there,
Existing in a state
Of permanent dormancy,
For fear that I might suffer
In empty recollections.
A painfully real fear,
That I might never know
My passionate responses,
To being loved - again.
One does not reach
The autumn of one's life
Free of relationships.
I have loved and been loved,
Some associations
Were great, some good,
And some - not so good.
Truthfully though,
I remember none as meaningful
As this one with you.
How fortunate I am,
Not only do I have
A romantic desire for you,
I also like you - above all else.
For all that you are,
And for all that you stand for.

May I, hopefully,
Consider you
My dearest friend?
Someone I don't have to
Put on an act for,
Or to play
Futile childish games with.
You have become
Such a great love in my life.
You surround me
With a warmth that creates
A wondrous glow
Of great happiness within me.
There are not enough words
To thank you
For being you,
And for being for me
And with me.
Since you
All is right
With the world.
