Child Within Running through the woods, Hearing the endless giggles, Hiding amongst the bushes, Playing hide and seek, Hoping that the counter doesn't peek! Argh, debt debt debt!! No way out, Bills piling up, Red alert, Wanting to desert this life. Dreaming of flying, Like Peter Pan. Fighting against Captain Hook, Walking the plank, But avoiding the croc! Family of three, Mouths to feed, Low income, Low self esteem, Vodka bottle calling, Drink me...drink me. Never never land, Second star to the right, Straight on til morning. A place full of hopes and dreams, Happiness, Being a child forever. How did I end up in this mess? I had my hopes and dreams, To be a successful writer, To be a name across the waters. All seems lost now, No hope, No dreams. Tig!! Your it!! Run while you can, Watch out for the rose bush! Don't fall into it, Or you shall get hurt. Hurt, Reality, Forgetting the inner child, Feeling lost and alone, No peace or hope. Returning home, For a nice earned sleep, So much fun we've had tonight, In never never land, The child within, Should never die. Hearing my children laugh, Seeing there faces lighting up. Flashbacks, My inner child. My hopes my dreams maybe gone, But in my children I see hope. For even if I don't have the life I yearned for, I can try my damnest to give them to my children, To give them hope, To make them chase their dreams, To give them the life I never had. So here and now I vow, To give them my all, As I smile to myself, And the child within. -------------------------------- Hello all, I hope that each and everyone of you are all fine and healthy and that you had a good festive season, shall be reading more of your work now that I'm back from my spell away. Take care all Lonestar |

Dear Lonestar, Welcome back. Your poem is right. We should never give up the child we were as long as she does not rule the adult. Joyce |

Your poem shows lots of hope, and love. Your children will always bring your childhood to light, and you have found the right path to go with them. |

Very touching and profound. I am an enigma, even unto myself. |

Many thanks for your kind words. Although I'm not yet a father, I have my morals and values within me. I am a big family man, so it helps me along with my writing of such a delicate poem. Poem was inspired by a website on adult survivors of abuse, who many have suffered in silence..this is a way to express the child within will never really die, no matter how our childhood was, as we shall always remember the good and fun times more than the bad. That's a great way of saying it, Lonestar.. I think if more people thought like this, there wouldn't be quite so many abusive parents producing abusive kids... Well written -Lynne It's nice to share - kiss someone when you have a cold. |
