One day I want to hear you say those words age old yet so new I want to be nestled in your arms and hear you say, Baby I love you. Maybe one day…. Today your heart lies elsewhere, I know you love her truly. No one knows where her heart lies, One fateful day she will decide Whether to cherish you or break your heart. Should she cherish you, my heart will break But yours will be whole and full of joy. So I shall rejoice in my agony Knowing that you smile. Should she break your heart, I’ll be there by your side. I’ll be the friend you need to help you through the pain, I’ll caress your hurt; ease your sorrow with time. You are so special to me, my first true love. I know you don’t love me now But I’d wait forever if one day you might. I want to cuddle up to you, be the one to make you smile, I want to look into your eyes and drown in the love I see there. I know you don’t love me now, to you I’m just a friend. So I’ll swallow these feelings, hold them down, And be that friend you need, always there for you. I told you how I felt, said I love you so, But you don’t feel for me that way right now. That’s ok, I understand, love hasn’t chosen me to rest in your heart. I want to hear you say those words age old yet so new, I want to be nestled in your arms and hear you say, Baby I love you. Instead I’ll smile at such a beautiful dream, And turn back to reality. Isn't it wonderful that you haven't crossed that thin line between love and hate. You should be feeling very good about yourself and patting yourself on your back for your great attitude. I am an enigma, even unto myself. |
