Footprints The snow that fell last night is bare Of any tracks to show that there Are many creatures all around, In their burrows underground And in the houses one can see, Snuggled down so cozily. A wisp of smoke against the sky, Tells me other folks than I Are up and breakfasting, so they Can make their mark upon the day. It almost seems a shame to go Out upon the pristine snow! Yet, in a little while I'll be Making footprints you can see And by tonight, each field and street, Will bear the marks of many feet. Where animals and people too, Have left them there for all to view! It is still lovely, Betty. We do make our mark upon this world, for good or bad. Joyce |

Dang those footprints that ruin the beauty of the newly fallen snow! It always starts out as such a beautiful masterpiece and then we have to go and ruin it! Delightful piece of writing, Betty Lou! |

Denise: Thanks for reading and commenting. The snow is so beautiful when it first falls, but we also enjoy the animal tracks we find when we go outside. We have flocks of wild turkeys here and their tracks make a really pretty pattern in the snow. Happy New Year! Betty Lou Hebert |

Yay Trillium, Merry Christmas! I love your delightful poem, not mentioning the gentle touch of including animals in your beautiful winter wonderland! Love Michelle If there cannot be equal in affection, then let the one with more be me - midnightblues™ |
