No Secrets I can't reproach my mom and dad, Since I'm sure they could not know it, But making my young life happy, Has stifled me as a poet. I have no deep despair to plumb To find the shameful angst and gloom. I'm left without a dismal past With no dark secrets to exhume. So I must write of happy days Instead of misery and shame. If I am neither Poe nor Plath, They surely are the ones to blame. By: Joyce Johnson 10/19/02 |

How blessed you are, dear Joyce A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

I could agree with the other replies out of respect for their talent and goodness, but I must disagree. Pain, misfortune, disappointment, once experienced can only serve to inhance the pleasure of success, happiness, and the joy living. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Thanks everyone and dear Pegasus. I think everyone knows who has read my poems that I have had my share of sorrow. But not in my childhood. My folks worked overtime to keep our lives sunny and carefree. I shall be ever grateful to them. Love, Joyce |

I liked this. You were fortunate as child, so few aren't. |
