Goodbye to Summer I can't believe it's happening! September month is almost gone. It is the summer's last hurrah With cool October coming on. It's autumn on the calendar, The days are warm and nights are chilled. All life around is closing down. My world is with loud bird calls filled. So busy gearing for their flight, They're calling for all of their kin. The racket makes good sense to them, To me, it's just a raucous din. Jack Frost will leave his signs on all. Without a clinging leaf to share, Shivering in the winter's wind, Pitiful trees with branches bare. If I could hibernate 'til spring I'd be retiring very soon, But not until his shift is done; That big old ball of harvest moon. By: Joyce 9/22/02 |

Joyce, Fall is my favorite time of year, but we can skip winter and go right back to summer if it was up to me. Beautiful poem by the way. Oh well sunny days are almost over. ![]() |

Lovely picture of fall, Joyce....but not too soon on old Jack Frost...I hate that morning when I wake to find my garden turned to mush!! Hugs, Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

Joyce: Enjoyed your poem and I agree, we wouldn't want to leave during the full moon. Too beautiful to miss. (However, I wouldn't mind leaving before the first snow!) Betty Lou Hebert |

good one Joyce. The moon off the coast of Florida this time of year is a huge orange ball rising from the sea at dusk. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Thanks everyone. And if I could hang on to those sunny days by saluting them in rhyme, I would do it. Joyce |
