As I gaze upon the wind rippled lake, My mind does wonder what's at stake. This peacefulness I see, Is but a pleasant front. For peoples actions of this world, Are cruel and often blunt. It is beautiful and appears so serene. But underneath the covering, it is unclean. How much longer will we play their fool? How much longer will we be their tool? Their personal wrench to tighten the screw. The end result, they tighten their hold on you. Blinding you with their plans For the "BETTER GOOD". Should we question the "BETTER GOOD", If we would? Is it more comfortable to play their game? Are we now able to excuse our own shame? Are we humans any more? Or merely intelligent animals, out to score? Score highest on this board of total shame. Only ourselves we have to blame. We've let our families go, What remains is but a show. We no longer fill our simple needs, But are overtaken by our evil greeds. I long for days gone past, Knowing they could never last. Mourning the passing of honor and charity. Learning to live with passiveness In its clarity. Regretting that what I wish to give, Must be repressed just so I might live. What sense does this really make? This feeling of forboding, I just can't shake. |

Dear Chili, Your poem is very thought provoking. Yes there is evil but I know there are still good people who are striving to better the world. Love, Joyce |
