This test that tries my deep resolve that strains the will relentlessly cares not for cries torn from the heart nor murmurings lost in the wind It is a cold and cruel unliving thing bereft of conscious thought or memory unyielding in it’s senseless quest not mindful of the havoc wrought This struggle fought in mind and soul against a nameless enemy, yet starkly real drains the strength with dripping constancy erodes the dreams long held in reverence Is this the end that fate has in store written on the scroll of time before time letters scrawled with bitter slashing strokes indellible, pre-ordained by a higher power Or is there hope for precious recompense an end to struggles too long fought in vain a world much brighter than the last the place where dreams emerge into the light the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Well written Pegasus. About a struggle that seems to go on. I don't quite know what it is but evidently you the author, does. Love, Joyce |

each of us struggles with his/her own private demons, mostly of our own making. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

I like that hope was in the last stanza...cause hope is our saving grace, if there is hope of any shape, why, and form, then one can continue on. Well written, poet friend of mine. |

Pegasus, what profoundness....questions that haunt us when all seems meaningless.... Memorable phrasing... "murmurings lost in the wind" "drains the strength with dripping constancy". One day we'll know the answers....?? Fine work, my friend! ![]() Lary |

It is of great courage to confront the dark side of our souls..Bravo! a poet you are to write with such flow and and harmony, even of the dark things...my own experience is that as I embraced these demons as my own...then they fled into the light.. A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |
