Is My Pen Empty ? ~~~ My life's in a dream My dream's in a haze no longer sure of reality Perhaps my thoughts are a waste ~ My pen's on the desk it's half full of ink Spent half its' life as a drumstick Now ... that's all it cares to accomplish It only rips the paper ~ Its' ink talked freely time after time It made me laugh and it made me sigh It brought me pride and left tears in my eye ~ Round and round and round it goes nothing comes out Perhaps it's dead or could it be that after all this time my entire lifes' dream has never been in my head ~ Is my pen empty ... or am I ? ~ Try one and see ~~~ [This message has been edited by Rex Allen McCoy (edited 06-28-2000).] |

What a dear surprise!!! My friend has a face!!! And he is as pretty outside as he is inside... Like the poem much, Rex Allen, but if you think you're empty, you're full of it...(and I don't even wish to discuss the contents of your pen!!!) Lovely, once again... |

It just seems like it sometimes, but when you least expect it, it once again comes to life! Great poem, Rex! Denise |

We need some Inspiration here; There's nothing in this quill. No novel thoughts to scribe, I fear; This tableau's empty still. ...hehe... strange, but the words do eventually find their way back.. |

Hi Rex, I know what you mean, I go out side or park my car in a food store parking lot anything just to write because that is what keeps me going forwards, but I must say your poem here is wonderful. Love, Cerenity |

Sometimes we just get burned out! Happens to everyone. Well most of us anyway. Don't fret too much about it, the ideas will return and so will the vigor for writing You bring so much to us through your words, it won't stay away forever. |

I know you are all correct ... I think I would have no problem writing sad poems ... but I wanted to write some lighthearted ... funny stuff and just can't seem to get into the mood ... my internet only works intermitantly and that's an annoyance and there are likely to be other mood wreckers oh well ... maybe tomorrow |

Rex, Great poem, we have all been there at one time or another. Go get yourself a refill with a walk or something. May help ya. Good luck and I liked this one. LW Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility. --William Wordsworth |
