Symbol of Freedom and Love Their beauty appears to be only powder light... With the softness of pastels and designs so taunting... They are even softer when put into flight... Leaving us in eternal awe with the mellowest of haunting Take the time to examine their gracefulness... And forfeit all your anger to their teasing... You will surely be impressed with their faithfulness... To pass on abundant sincerity that is so pleasing Dare not think of losing for what they stand... For they symbolize the freedom of love and thought... Always offering it for free throughout the land... Always knowing where it is most often sought They could only be one thing floating above... That which we know so well as the butterfly... The thing of beauty that gives us freedom and love... Only wanting you to admire as they flutter by. Mark Bohannan |

Very true and nice poem. Im not much a critic, because even the slightest mistakes give us a since of personality. I am new at letting others read my poems, and only strive to do my best. Your poem captures the essence of the beauty that nature has to offer in one of gods creatures. LarBear. |

Janet Marie and LarBear--- thank you for the kind words. I wasn't sure about this one. It is in fact the first one I ever wrote. Once again thank you. |

The thing of beauty that gives us freedom and love... Only wanting you to admire as they flutter by. .... Wonderful work Mark... I am so pleasantly surprised by the fact that I had just finished a trilogy on "butterfly thoughts" a few days back and had posted them here, and now I see your poem... feels great, very great... Thank You for the butterfly memories... regards, sudhir. Death, be not proud, though some have called thee, Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so; - John Donne |

And as fragile as they appear to be, they could also symbolize strength... for their delicate wings take them far. *S* Beautiful! There are certain advantages to being months late in responding... I've had the chance to see and enjoy your growth as a poet. But for this to be your first poem is amazing... the talent you brought to the table reminds me of another poet whose inate talent has graced these boards so often... the magnificent Lady Santos. *S* |
