A Thirty-Three Cent Stamp Perhaps he doesn't love me in the same way I love him And yet somehow I've seen that glow of passion from within A simple call to say hello would really make my day I guess you'd say our love is just a dial tone away I've heard by friendly sources that he thinks I am his type Why doesn't he speak up and grab the fruit while it is ripe? It doesn't take much effort to type out a note these days I guess you'd say our love is just a short e-mail away If he doesn't like computers, he can send a note by mail I know that they deliver, come wind or snow or hail Perhaps he doesn't have the time to interrupt his day But our love is just a thirty-three cent postage stamp away perhaps he'll buy a ticket and board the first jet plane This silence will eventually make me go insane He told a friend of mine he doesn't make enough to pay But it seems our love is just one little mountain top away If he would just allow me two minutes of his day He'd find true love is just one solitary kiss away But if money is the issue, he could love me anyway Cause our love is just a thirty-three cent postage stamp away Elizabeth Santos |

Ah, this reminded me of when, after my divorce, and the kids' father didn't write or phone, my daughter asked "Mom, just how much does a 25 cent stamp cost, anyway?" Very very good, Elizabeth! Lovely Liz...I love the postage stamp motif, just a moment away he is, but just out of reach. The last stanza is beautiful. I loved this! Take care, Melissa Honeybee |

Elizabeth, This was simply excellent. I really loved the title and flow to this piece! Your writing never ceases to amaze me! Take care. Amy "Don't be dismayed at goodbyes. Seems some people either ignore the obvious or overcomplicate the simple. If, in fact, it is so easy and inexpensive ($.33) to show how we feel, then why is it so few are capable? I do enjoy poetry that has a central focus with a larger scope. How a lifetime of change could hinge on something as simple as a note and a stamp. Very nice poem! Trew. |

Elizabeth, So true...only costs 33 cents to tell someone how you feel. This was very creative. Love the theme of the stamps and how there are so many ways to communicate your feelings to the one you love. Just wonderful. Thank you all for your kind resonses. Olias, you put everyone to shame. And Martie, no, I'm not talking about the 200.00 ticket, nor baout my 130.00 ticket that I haven't cashed in. The fact that we can't get together is an act of God, and certainly is not for lack of effort, I appreciate all of your comments. Thank you Liz |

Oh Liz, this is wonderful! It's amazing how close people can be to happiness, but they never get it just because they are too lazy to reach out. Great writing, as usual.
