Only Marge could inspire me to write a poem by giving me a history lesson!! Thanks Marge "Honest Injun" An honest breed of people filled the land Once upon a time. Living in harmony with nature, They held hands with reason and rhyme. Truth was the essence of their being, They gave more than they recieved. Life and God were good to them, In ever-lasting peace they believed. Then the white man came ashore, And cheated them of their existence. They stole the land, the peace, the dignity, Any truth or honesty was a pretence. Many years have past since then, Many setting suns. But still a phrase speaks of this past, Two words: "Honest Injun". < !signature--> "Poetry is the true expression of my soul, it is my ultimate means of communication. It is my rainbow of delight." My dearest Lil' Lizzie~ You've more compassion and understanding in your little finger than some have in their entire being ! What a sheer pleasure it is to share knowledge with you. This poem will ALWAYS mean the world to me. You are just remarkably creative and so very talented. Most of all ... you are YOU and that has warmed this lady's heart more than you will ever know. I love you and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your thirst of knowledge. Has anyone told you lately ... You are wonderful ? Well .. you are ! Always my love - and friendship~ ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Lizzie, this poem makes a very real point. For a phrase like Honest Injun to be coined as a representation of honesty, it goes to show in how high of a regard native American indians and their sense of justice and honesty were respected. Very good writing, my girl.. |
