Summering

Dim the mock lights,
no cool down tonight,
no offshore flow -
freshening.

Too hot to cook
you don’t seem to mind,
devour other bounties -
moonlighting.

Airy earth blanket
beneath icy stars
speaking in tongues -
silencing.

Wish away wilting days
spending short nights -
summering.

This is wonderful , so much beautiful imagery I can feel that summers night , with no breeze and that dead heat that never fades
its helping to make me feel warmer its freezing here tonight in Aussie land   Thanks for sharing

Corinne, very interesting read, and a little criptic I see. Always a little mystery in your writing.

Oh, Corinne~
I like the very sound of this.

'Wish away wilting days
spending short nights -
summering.'

What a delightfully unique word -'summering'.

Core,

This is absolutely beautiful!  Summer never sounded better.

You inspired a response poem.  Here 'tis.

Summer Fare

Van sang of a marvelous night -
perhaps not one like this,
with so much heat
and so little kiss of salt.

Yet, the moon IS dancing
and we feel its pull on tides
so distant from the ones you love,
but no less sweet.

The table is set -
too hot to cook -
too hot to eat.
We dine.

Nice,
Sweet,
Simple,
Yet deep,
Meaningful,
Wounderful,
Devine .
To hear of the feast,
With wineing and dining,
I enjoyed every single great line .

Loved it . A very inspireing poem, with more to it than first glance allows .

Sounds so perfect. Be glad you are not here in Ireland or it would be wintering, if you have an extra sun could you please donate some. A wonderful poem Corrine. I am so jealous of the scene you painted.

Thank you, RAM, for such a lovely response poem.  Nothing like a Van song, is there?

Thank you also, Angelsweing, Elizabeth, MAMiller and Brian.

Brian, I'm Irish, so I'm jealous of your locale.  Such is the way of life, eh?
