~Only The Stars See Me Cry~

A warm breeze is all that holds me on this empty, long, night,
embraced only by the cloud's shadows, feeling a deep need to write.
A thousand stars dance above me, as does a celestial blue moon,
their presence, my quiet comfort, but like you...they will be gone too soon.

I wonder what you are doing, who your with and where you are,
I'd sell my soul to know ... we were both wishing on the same star.
I was only looking for a little peace ... for something kind ...
and for just a little while, I believed ... you were that find.

I brought this on myself ... falling for my own fantasy,
now my heart breaks under the sudden weight of this cold reality.
I cant hold you to promises that you never made,
yet each passing second I find more of me that I'm willing to trade.

I don't wanna be like this anymore ... so emotional, needy and weak,
where am I supposed to go with this, you were the quiet comfort I seek.
I tried so hard to hold you, to make you want to stay ...
how poetically ironic the intensity of my need is what scared you away.

Alone again, I sit and hurt and wonder why ...
and I cry a tear ... for every star I see in the sky.
Only the moon sees me, he seems to understand,
come morn the sun will find me still here ... heart in my hand.

Janet Marie

ooohhhh girl this is so sad.  I can imagine the heart break of the reality.  I hope writing this took some of the pain away.  Wonderful heartfelt verse.

JM,

This was so touching and full of lonliness that I am sitting here with tears streaming down my face.  Oh, how we have all been there at one time or another.  You have such talent to write from your heart to your pen.  It seems nothing is ever lost in the translation.  I hope your friend sees the beauty here and makes a wish upon a star.  Wonderful writing my friend.

Janet--there is so much honesty and raw feeling in this...it always impresses me how you spread your heart out for us to see...and it is a lovely heart, you know.

A heart in hand,
a heart on sleeve,
still wet with tears
cried at your leave...

Quickened, but not born again,
in remorse, remember when...
I take your strength,
believe again...
your memory is my life's reprieve...
Solemn vow--I DO believe.

loved this one JM---impossible not to...
smiles across the miles to you...

Great poem Janet I agree with Marge I love the lines
"I can't hold you to promises you never made
yet each passing second I find more of me I'm willing to trade."

Amazing is'nt it, how easy it is to compromise our principles for love

The last part is very melancholy and sad but you capture the atmosphere so well.. sitting there on such a romantic night with your heart in your hand and lonely.....it's like the blues baby.......excellent.....ethome..

I couldn't choose a favorite line in this one , without the rest no line stands on it's own, but together they make a poem that is as close to perfection as I have seen

I can remember a time when I felt this very same feeling, and you have a way of showing all of us that we are not alone. For that I want to say Thank you

Sometimes we make our greatest fears actually come true, don't we?? We dwell so deeply on a potential loss, we enable it to happen... Nice poem here, my friend..

Awesome how you bring your emotions to our imaginations.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
