I watch you closely From across the room Wondering how things Could have gotten so complicated I smile as I think back To the happier times we’ve had Your eyes so full of love Shining down at me We could read each other’s mind With one simple glance You were my life My shelter from the world I felt so safe then With your arms wrapped Protectively around me I stand here now and Try to understand What has happened We go through the motions Like an old routine I love you rolling off our tongues More as an obligation Than a feeling But yet here we are Grasping to hold onto A love that has left Not wanting to leave the memories To scared to be alone I couldn't find a fitting title for this poem... if you have any suggestions please let me know. |
