Fading Memories I sit quietly in front of you On this hot southern afternoon All the curtains drawn wide open Letting the warm sun spill into the room. You look at me and smile As you would to a stranger on the street Though I've know you all my life It is as though we're about to meet. I look into your clear blue eyes That used to shine so bright But now their only radiance Is an ever dimming light. I ask you how your day has been And you smile in sweet reply, And as we talk together softly Tears are building behind my eyes. My heart holds so many memories Of us, along Time's ever flowing stream But to you those precious memories Are fading like a waking dream. Such memories, both good and bad Can never be replaced, And as I softly kiss your cheek, Tears start streaming down my face. And as I rise to leave, I whisper "Good night, Grandma, I'll be back again." And you look deep into my eyes, and ask "Once more, son, what's your name?" ~you reached inside, you touched my heart, and I am all the better for it~ Terry A. Woodson, Jr. |

Oh Terry how sad to know that someone so important has lost all memory of herself and her past...just hang in there and keep going back...she needs you. never say never |

Thank you, Paula. It is hard to watch someone so close to you go through this, because you want to do anything that you can to help them, and there is nothing that you can do except stand close beside them and watch what is happening. It makes you feel so helpless sometimes, and I can't think of anything that hurts more deeply than wanting to help someone you love but realizing that there is nothing that you can do. ~you reached inside, you touched my heart, and I am all the better for it~ Terry A. Marina~ Thank you so much, my dear! I hope that I will be online a little more now. I just finished a class, and last week I took a little vacation to have a little time to myself, and I went as far away from home as I could for a few days, and I did not take my computer with me. But I am back now, and things have settled down a little, so now I am glad to be back with all of you guys! Now, I have about 2 weeks worth of catching up to do, so I know what I will be doing tonight!!!! Love Ya~ ~you reached inside, you touched my heart, and I am all the better for it~ Terry A. Terry, This is sad but then old age brings such realities to the fore, doesn't it? A very well written poem... regards and take care, sudhir. |
