Unfolding ...

For tonight, the raindrops echo
in the emptiness.
The tears of ink
stain the pages of my night.

Brushing my lips with my fingertips
I remember,
for the moment only,
the feel of your skin
as it touched mine.

Though hearts apart,
your melody plays in my silence.
I hear your words on my lips,
as they rise from within
and I find myself repeating them,
as if hearing them for the first time.

It's the little things you do
that define what you mean to me.
The way you brush my bangs
out of my eyes, when facing me.
How you don't mind the tears that flow,
when I can't hold them back
and they fall upon your shoulder.

There is that special way
you make me giggle and laugh
as you trail your kisses
from my lips to my neck,
and down my body.
And the lifting of me
over your shoulder,
as you carried me off.

Even your stubbornness
secures me to you,
knowing that we are open
to one another,
and as time passes,
we continue unfolding
the pages of our dreams.
