by Linda Munday THE WATERFALL In a deep glen of a thousand greens, A slender veil falls in a silver stream. From rocky ledge high above the fronds, To sapphire blue of an echoing pond. A soft sunlight dapples this shady glade, As the best of nature is displayed. The swirling, moist mists of angel's hair, Are floating gently on cool, crisp air. A butterfly alights with wings of blue, To drink the drops of fountains dew. It flits about on its mossy perch, Like a ballet in blue in this water church. The swaying ferns are drinking sweet, fresh cologne, And tasting daily, the sweetness of their leafy home. A weightless breeze is carried, over the mosses deep, And down the clefts between the rocks, the rivulets creep. The rain-bowed birds take wing, within this sheltered dell. A chirping choral of morning song, that sound like tiny bells. A sweet melody is chiming, in a contest of song, Whilst silver falls in choral vies, proclaim "The World is Born!" Linda, What beautiful imagery... Sheer magical force of the poem pulled me in and I wanted to be underneath the waterfall and feel the same beauty of it as you put forth here... Where I live, back home in India, I live in a valley amidst hills... We have the monsoon season right now, and splendid waterfalls pour down with greenery all around... Ah! How I want to be there! Thanks for giving me the enjoyment... regards, sudhir |

Linda, I can see the splendor of the waterfall in my mind's eye thanks to your beautiful imagery. This was very real in the descriptions you used. Great writing!! Lone Wolf Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |

James, Thank you for your lovely reply. The waterfall could be one of many, but the main one that came to my mind was a very beautiful waterfall that I saw last year in the northern island of New Zealand. Absolutely stunning place, which I will never forget. Lone Wolf.. thank you too, music to my ears. Brian... you're very encouraging, thank you. Dsnyder... you have 12000+ posts, now I'm truly flattered.... thanks! |
