it's too late for
two words to
fix what I am feeling

I have learned that
sentences and
words and
letters add up to
nothing compared to an
aching chest

so you say you are
sorry

you say so many things
and I must
sift through them and
spit out the
white lies

you tell me to
forget you

like telling the
sun to
forget the sky

the only home it ever had

so I listen to you
and
swallow your words like
prune juice

hoping someday I will
adapt to the taste of
bitter truth

and forget the taste of love

so sweet and
fleeting

I loved this poem! This is the reality so many times when it comes to loving. I feel you are showing just how thin the line is between love and hate!!!
