it's too late for two words to fix what I am feeling I have learned that sentences and words and letters add up to nothing compared to an aching chest so you say you are sorry you say so many things and I must sift through them and spit out the white lies you tell me to forget you like telling the sun to forget the sky the only home it ever had so I listen to you and swallow your words like prune juice hoping someday I will adapt to the taste of bitter truth and forget the taste of love so sweet and fleeting |
