The sun came in through my window this morning, Cut into my sleep like a knife.. The neighbor's dog howling all night had just briefly made me think of taking it's life!!! I tossed and I turned, I could stand it no longer Decided to get out of bed... The coffee I perked could have used something stronger, to clear the fuzz out of my head.... I fixed him his breakfast, got him off to work then looked out my window to see.. The most beautiful bird that I ever have seen staring back through the window at me! The bird was an eagle with clear golden eyes with talons incredibly long.. It opened it's wings, and looked into my face and proceeded to sing me it's song... The song of that eagle was magic and just the most beautiful thing I had heard..... I wondered if maybe that I were an eagle I'd understand his every word.... Then in the distance, I heard other eagles and knew that his sweet song must end... He opened his wings--He flew off to greet them To sing eagle songs with his friends.. Still sitting there at my kitchen table I took a new look at the day.. The clouds overhead drew apart for the sun and they now were just drifting away... So--listen to life all around you, my friend, even though you might have a hard day... Just steal a few moments, and you will soon see.. What the eagle was trying to say.... (this was a real-life experience......) ~~~~~Live for Today~~~~~ taste every single moment [This message has been edited by Sunny1 (edited 07-18-2000).] |

Sunny1, Time after time the words just flow. You can make poetry out of anything, and your talent and gift show through everything that you write. |

Hi Bill...... Thank you, my friend, but this poem I really have to blame on the eagle. I live in Alaska, and they're truly magnificent birds. This guy was awesome!!!! (Hope to see him again someday....) ~~~~~Live for Today~~~~~ taste every single moment |

It's intriguing to try to imagine what a bird is trying to say with his song. In Alaska he's probably saying "I'm freezing my *** off!" (at least, I would be) Very enjoyable, sunny... |

Sunny, This was awesome!!!! What a vision of majesty you have painted with your words. The eagle is an incredible creature. You are very lucky to have seen one in person. Great writing! LW Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |

Balladeer......Thank you, and yes, he probably is saying just that, (I've said that a few times myself!!!!!) Lone Wolf......Thank you....there's so much nature in your face here that you just can't help writing about it. We have lots of wolves here, but I have yet to run across one. ~~~~~Live for Today~~~~~ taste every single moment |
